The Big Pilton Quiz, with its beautiful, hand-carved, ash question mark trophy, is in to its fifth year. As usual it’s on the Saturday after the May Day Bank Holiday, this year 9th May. And as usual it’s in Pilton Church Hall and starts at 7.30pm. The evening, which comes with an excellent light supper, is for teams of six people and costs just £5 per person. You just need to bring along your knowledge and your own drink.
The first four of these quizzes were sellouts and filled the Church Hall to its seated capacity of 120. So don’t delay in getting your tickets from Cobley’s Newsagents or Carol Haddrill (on 01271 372416). Apart from getting your hands (if only briefly) on the very tactile trophy carved by Mike Taffinder in North Buckland, the name of your team is added, provided it’s decent. Last year the winners were ‘Hunter Gatherers’.
The winners take away a brilliant box of edible or drinkable goodies and there are some really classy raffle prizes, the top one is a digital radio. Don’t miss it!
