VE Day Parties held in Pilton and Bradiford
Seventy years ago this month, on VE (Victory in Europe) Day, 8 May 1945, at the end of World War II in Europe, a celebration party was held in the grounds of Pilton House.
It included a fancy dress competition and these two photographs show the children who took part. In the top one, Mary Passmore (second from the right on front row) won 3rd Prize as a fortune teller. In the bottom one, John Norman is sitting second from the right on front row. Both Mary and John still live in Pilton.
The Pilton Story archive also contains photographs of VE Day parties held in Abbey Road and Bradiford and we would love to find more if you have them in your attic.
