Pilton Panto Time Again : Dick Whittington

Pilton Panto opens tomorrow, Wednesday 15th February, in Pilton Church Hall with this year’s show – Dick Whittington.  With a cast of over twenty of all ages from 9 upwards, the annual spectacular from Pilton Theatre Productions is on for five shows during the February Half Term.  It ends on the evening of Saturday 18th.  The Saturday matinee is already sold out as we write.   This photograph is a scene from the dress rehearsal.

Pilton Theatre Productions were formed in 2015 specifically to bring the Pilton Pantomime back after an absence of 3 years since the production of Cinderella in the Green Man in 2013.  The productions take place in Pilton Church Hall every February Half Term so they won’t clash with other users of the Hall like Pilton Pre-school and the Dance School.  In February 2016 they successfully produced Aladdin. bringing together a cast and crew with many old and new faces.  The panto revival was supported by Pilton Green Man Day with a loan to cover major costs including insurance, additional scenery, props, lighting and special effects.  There have also been welcome contributions towards this popular community event from Councillors Mair Manuel and Brian Greenslade.

Pilton Ladies and the School Reunion Coffee Morning

The Pilton Story had a visit from a wonderful group of Pilton-born ladies who all went to Pilton School.  They are organising a reunion coffee morning for the classes of 1945 – 1955 at the Imperial Hotel, Barnstaple, at 11am on Wednesday May 18th.

They visited our base on 18th April to share some of their stories of Pilton, Pilton Street, Priory Gardens, The Rock, Yeo Vale, Manning’s Pit, Pilton Park, Pilton School and much more.  We hope to share some of these tales with you on the archive quite soon.
