Boyhood adventures and Mannings Pit

A reunion in the Reform Inn brought back many memories for Bobby Furse, George Challacombe, John Norman and his cousin, Brian Norman. Among the reminiscences were long days cycling as far as Exmouth and back, (unbeknown to their parents), playing football for Pilton United against the Bluecoat School, and against Shirwell, from where they’d see if they could freewheel home on their bikes from Youlston Park.
Much of the activity centred on Mannings Pit, as the ‘Gang of Four’ told Richard Howe……..
Thanks to John Norman for the great picture.
