Minnie Bartlett (born 1901) played Oliver (possibly) in the all female cast of ‘As You Like It’ by William Shakespeare put on by the Pilton Girls Friendly Society at Pilton House in around 1920. At the time Pilton House was owned by the Pearce family.
The Girls Friendly Society still exists in England and Wales. Established in 1875, within the Anglican Church, GFS Platform (as it is now known) has become a national and international movement, helping young women to help themselves.
