The 2000 Pilton Panto ‘Dick Whittington and his Cat’ THE VIDEO

The January 2000 Pilton Panto ‘Dick Whittington and his Cat’ was probably the 4th Pilton Panto of the modern era. This one was presented in the skittle alley of the then Chichester Arms in Pilton Street, now the Green Man Bar & Bistro. The landlords at that time were Jas and Derek Evans.
Under the direction of Hamish Patrick, the Panto helped contribute to the £3267 raised by the Chichester Arms in the year up to January 2000. This came from the Quiz Nights, Fancy Dress Nights, the Carnival and a number of specific appeals. The money was donated to Pathfield School, Welland House, Greenfields, Children’s Hospice South West and Pilton Village Hall.
This is a video of the Panto which had a cast of eighteen and a supporting crew (back stage and front of house) of another twenty or so and involved the Daystar and Pilton Schools of Dancing. Unfortunately, we have had to allow removal of about 5 minutes of music which infringed copyright but, hopefully, this won’t spoil enjoyment of this bit of Pilton history.
If you have stories to tell us about this Panto or can provide further information about it, please contact us through the website.
Many thanks to Ivy Grant who kept this video over the years along with two other Panto videos and programmes of seven other Pilton Pantos.
