For 24 hours from July 31st to August 1st 2009 a group of twenty three Pilton and other residents hopped around Pilton Park (distance 423 metres per lap) on a 1970-80s spacehopper to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West. The weather was rather less than favourable weather but they nevertheless broke two world records for a 24 hour hopathon – for the longest continuous space hop and the longest distance on a spacehopper.
The hopathon concluded with a custard fight and this link takes you to the picture of the custard fight.
Space Hopathon and Custard Pie Fight
The custard pie fight was only 37 people short of also breaking a world record – for the largest number of people in a custard pie fight. The 400 litres of custard for the fight was made and donated by the Barum Brewery in Pilton.
