This photograph of Pilton Street looking north from around the Lower Almhouses is thought to date from around 1900. Note that there is a building standing where today there is the garden of the Lower Almshouses. Also as noted elsewhere, everyone is wearing a hat. A man is clearing up horse manure from the road.
