This song was written by Martin Haddrill to record the fight to save Manning’s Pit in Pilton from development.
At the time of recording the threat of development had receded, but not disappeared completely, following adoption of a new Local Plan by North Devon Council, on which the area concerned is not designated for housing, and then the designation of the area as an Asset of Community Value.
